Portland Food Carts

Most people's first reaction when they hear the term "Food cart" is not a pleasant one. It is easy to associate the term with the sweaty, temporary, junk-food stands seen only at the State Fair. But hold your horses my dear friends, this is not the type of Food Cart I am talking about. Portland Food Carts are dispersed through out the many different neighborhoods and they are a far far cry from the deep-fried Twinkie stand [cringe] of the state fair. Food carts are mini-restaurants; restaurants with small menus; small menus full of amazing, original recipes.

All of this is to say that last night Wes and I went to a food cart with some new friends. There is a pod (yes a group of food carts is called a pod) of about 6 of them down the street from us, oriented in a circle with seating available. We finally go to check them out and what an awesome place it is. We could choose from the following food carts: Crepes, Potato Champion, Pyro Pizza, Mexican food, Bernie's, and Whiffie Pies. We chose to get some pizza and housemade Cola (delicious). Here is a video by Men's Health which interviews some of the most popular food carts in town. The list is endless, so if you're really curious, check out the website that lists every food cart in Portland.

Or, just watch this video (the pizza place seen at the very end is the place we went to lastnight!):

So come on up and eat at some food carts with us! :) Happy Sunday everyone!
