A Dream Come True

Oh boy, how do I put all of the thoughts that just passed through my brain into the correct order and with out babbling on....?

I guess I will start by saying, I recently committed my Mondays to all things Weddings. Most of you know that since planning my own wedding, I discovered I wanted to go into the wedding industry and most likely to do wedding planning. In my stocking at Christmas this year, Santa gave me a subscription to BRIDES magazine, and then we went out to get me a journal to start recording all of my ideas and clippings from said magazines that were worth keeping. Then a couple months went by during which it all just sat there. I didn't have time to look through the magazines especially when being delivered alongside 3 other magazine subscriptions I got for Christmas. After thinking about it for a while I realized that I just wasn't making this a priority in my life. When work, school, a husband, and chores fill 89% of your time, its hard not to just spend the 11% in front of the computer, watching movies and staring at Facebook. I realized that Mondays I didn't have to worry about homework. It was one day where I didn't have homework due the next day and that I could easily carve out some time to consistently make my career plans a priority. The first Monday I did this, I spent 4 hours at Palios looking at my favorite wedding sites (each word has a different site attached- check 'em out). I searched Theknot.com for wedding planners, florists, and printmakers in my area and emailed them all asking if they were looking for summer interns. Lucky me, I got several replies. One photographer was so nice, she didn't have anything available but offered to meet with me just to talk weddings! Two other vendors suggested I get in touch with a specific event planner, and now, I have an interview with that event planner on Monday. I also just had an interview with a florist last Wednesday that went very well. All this is just to say, I am excited for what my "wedding-mondays" will continue to provide me with. In just one Monday I was able to get two interviews. I feel encouraged, and excited for the career path I've chosen. Whether its just flipping through my wedding magazines or finding an internship I know that the more I familiarize myself with the industry the better off I'll be. Exciting!

Well, I guess I am doing a bit of babbling because that wasn't even the "dream come true" I was talking about, though that is exciting news, it is only the preface. :) While preparing for my Wednesday interview, I was asked to send some pictures of our wedding to the florist. Doing so required me to dig up three CDs of wedding pictures that we haven't looked at since purchasing some of them nearly three years ago. What a great reminder it was:

Prior to getting married Wes and I always talked about how excited we would be when we could just live life together. Specifically, we always talked about this picture we had in our heads of Wes reading on the couch while I was working on some art project, each doing our own things, while being together. And here we are! Almost 3 years later living the life we once dreamed of for so long. Wes is reading on the couch and I'm typing this blog, classical music playing in the background, and warm coffee filling our mugs. That is our dream come true. Thanks for listening. :)

Some songs that always remind me of our wedding...
