Just for Kicks...

I thought I'd share a quick picture (because the previous blogs were so wordy) ...

A couple weeks ago I decided to go onto my myspace because I never go on it anymore and found myself scouring images upon images from last year. This was a precious moment I didn't remember having caught on camera: The night Wes proposed. After our walk to the park, an engaged Katie was surprised to see Wes' parents had come over to celebrate with her family. Amidst the excitement we sat down and called our siblings. This is us on the phone with Courtney and Carlos.

Just thought I'd share it as we are coming up on our year in less than two months! Boy oh boy how time flies.

Love,
Katie

Soon To Come...

Blogs soon to come...

  • Sue and Greg's Visit: We had such a great time with you guys and I want to do it justice by having all of the pictures (the majority of them are on wes' computer) before I tell the story. :)
  • Our Home-made Indian Food: pictures, recipes and a delicious story
  • Pasta Puttanesca: a must-share recipe, easy delicious home-made tomato sauce.
  • Spring has Sprung: Katie's thoughts on Spring time and Pictures that my Dad sent me of baby geese by his work. ;)

Job and School updates

Seeing as how it has been a full week since our last blog it can only mean one thing: we are some busy people.

You would think that with my lack of consistent work I would at least be available to hop on the blog and fill you in more frequently then this but no no no my friends the baby-sitting jobs have kept me quite busy. This past month has consisted of some exciting new babysitting experiences:

-I have now started watching a group of 6 children at a "moms-group" every other thursday morning. Children ages: 1,2,2,2,3,&5.

- A precious 4 yr. old every tuesdays and thursdays

-A 4 month old on occasional Saturday evenings

-And most often I have been watching 3 amazing girls. Ages: 1, 3, &5

-Also, I have continued to work on mondays watching Charlotte which is proving to be more rewarding than ever now that I have known her for about 7 months.

I am gaining some great experience with infants and working with large groups of children all at once. The only real bummer is that none of these jobs pay very well which puts me in the position to still be searching for a full time job. Prayers are appreciated as I am definitely the type of person who loves routine and consistency and gets very stressed out with out it.

On a more exciting note, Wes is thriving at his job and I am oh so so proud. :) We attended a staff meeting together on tuesday (oh yes, in addition to the babysitting I am now picking up hours here too) and in addition to Wes' increase in hours he was asked to step into a "Lead Staff" position. (Meaning he gets to carry a pager- oo la la) and he gets a raise! (tiny but none-the-less: a raise.) We are both very excited and encouraged by this good news!

Other than that we are adjusting to not eating dinner together every night as Wes' work schedule has him working till 11 most nights. I can't complain, we needed to be making more money and God is providing. Thanks for your support during this time. We miss you all as exciting summer plans are brewing....

 Love,
Katie

The Good, Bad and Great.

Hello Everyone,

It's me, Wesley. I have good news and bad news.

First the bad... My parents ended their Portland visit with us yesterday. Though it was a sad thing to see them leave we had a lot of fun. But I won't blog too much about that because Katie was going to do some posting later today about all the good times we had this past week.

And now for the good news... great news.... drum roll.... I am officially working full time at JBS Residential Living. Yeah! It feels awesome to have the job stability (and soon, benefits!) and to not have the weight of more output of funds than input of funds hanging over our shoulder. God is good and I am very thankful they like me over there at JBS.

Here's a little something of our fun:

My father and I having cigars and beer at the Kennedy School.

My mom and I having beer and cigars (well, at least the beer part is true.)

Oh happy -sunny- days!!

Our free german chocolate cake today...

Our cheesy hike pictures....

Hi Friends and Family,

You won't believe it but I am sittiner here at Palios with a tummy full of free cake (again, yes!!) looking out the window at a gorgeous 70 degrees-sunny day. It feels so good to be wearing my TOMs and a tee shirt. Yesterday I actually pulled off wearing shorts! Shorts!!! This amazing spring weather isn't supposed to last for too long this week but we are loving it. It's amazing how much everyone appreciates the sun. One sunny day and BOOM every door in our "complex" (all 6 of 'em) is flung open, people are sitting outside reading, walking around, eating ice cream etc. And believe it or not, we weren't the only ones wiht the idea of going ot the Columbia River Gorge yesterday .

Yes, yesterday Wes and I decided to take the historic highway to the columbia river gorge ot hike some waterfalls. It was amazing. It was the first time we really got out and did something like this together since we moved here. The views were amazing and it was so peaceful to get into nature and have a break from the day to day routines. Then for a late lunch we stopped at Mcmenamin's Edgefield which is out in that area. We had so much fun, so if anyone is in the mood for a quick hike in this amazing weather just hop on a plane and we will take you. :) Speaking of guests visiting, Sue and Greg arrive tomorrow and we can't wait to show them how life has progressed since they helped us with the move in September. Enjoy the pictures! Love to you all,

Katie
